Notable Projects
[custom_list icon=”road”]
- SR 64 from Carlton Arms Boulevard to I-75, Manatee County, FDOT District 1 – Our design reduced congestion and fuel costs for the traveling public by producing plans to widen this important arterial from four-lanes to six-lanes for 2.5 miles. It has the flexibility to easily be widened to eight-lanes in the future.
[icon icon=”search-plus” size=”5x”] - I-75 Ramp Improvements at SR 26, Alachua County, FDOT District 2 – Our design significantly improved the operation of the northbound off-ramp by providing multiple auxiliary lanes allowing vehicles to queue on the ramp, reducing backups on I-75. The project widened the existing northbound off ramp to provide two eastbound right turn lanes and two westbound left turn lanes, and milling and resurfacing the remaining interchange ramps.
[icon icon=”search-plus” size=”5x”] - I-4/Selmon Expressway Connector, Hillsborough County, FDOT District 7 – The design of the interchange removed Port of Tampa truck traffic from Ybor City with direct access to the Interstate. This project provided a connection between the Port of Tampa, the SR 618 Selmon Connector, and I-4. FDA provided the signing and pavement marking plans that included the design of three miles of the mainline, over eight miles of the ramps, and 51 sign panels on 25 sign structures with the largest sign being over 800 square feet.
[icon icon=”search-plus” size=”5x”] - I-75 Northbound and Southbound Off Ramps at North Jones Loop Road, Charlotte County, FDOT District 1 – Our design improved safety by extending off-ramp storage to eliminate queueing onto I-75 and signalizing the ramp terminals. The project provided dual left and dual right turns for the off ramps including signalization, drainage, signing and pavement marking, and permitting.
[icon icon=”search-plus” size=”5x”] - Nocatee Elementary School Safe Routes to School, DeSoto County, FDOT District 1 – Our design provided students with a safe, continuous path to and from school along SW Shores Avenue with the addition of new crosswalks at CR 760A and US 17 and school zone flashing beacons to warn drivers to reduce speeds during school pick up and drop off hours. This LAP project provided new sidewalks and crosswalks, and included signing and pavement marking, and drainage improvements.
[icon icon=”search-plus” size=”5x”] - Cape Haze Pioneer Trail, Charlotte County, FDOT District 1 – This trail project was designed to maximize the natural beauty experience of the landscape so that people of all ages can enjoy this recreational trail. The project involved nearly two miles of an eight foot asphalt trail to connect a path along CR 771 to the existing Cape Haze Pioneer Trail. A 300 foot bridge spanning the Coral Creek East Branch was included along with restoration plantings in this tidal basin.
[icon icon=”search-plus” size=”5x”] - Meridian Avenue Signalization from Channelside Drive to the Selmon Expressway, Hillsborough County, FDOT District 7 – Our signalization and lighting design provided function and aesthetic appeal in this evolving urban residential core in the Channelside District of Tampa. The project involved six interconnected signals and decorative roadway lighting. The various electrical systems required coordination with the Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority, City of Tampa and FDOT.
[icon icon=”search-plus” size=”5x”] - SR 60/Tampa International Airport Interchange, Hillsborough County, FDOT District 7 – Our design provided the nighttime visibility for this complex, high volume interchange while meeting all height restrictions at Tampa International Airport. The interchange reconstruction included a lighting design that required evaluating airport glide slope criteria for pole height limitations and included coordination with the FAA, Hillsborough County and FDOT.
[icon icon=”search-plus” size=”5x”] - SR 572/Airport Road at Old Tampa Highway, Polk County, FDOT District 1 – To accommodate the high volume of truck traffic and improve roadway operations, we designed dedicated left turn lanes on SR 572/Airport Road and increased radial returns for trucks turning onto Old Tampa Highway. The intersection improvement included widening a two-lane roadway to provide for left turn lanes. We reduced right-of-way acquisition and impacts to utilities with the combination of creative design and obtaining Design Variations.
