Active Arterial Management Phase I, Orlando Urban Area, FDOT District 5
Our design to install over 50 Bluetooth devices mitigates traffic congestion levels by providing real time travel time data which allows each corridor to be actively monitored and managed. Access to the signal cabinets was gained through coordination with maintaining agencies and the locations were field reviewed to identify suitable areas to install the devices where free flowing traffic was present. Each signal cabinet was inventoried and plans were developed to connect the devices to the nearest signal cabinet with a fiber optic connection. If a fiber optic connection was not present, a GSM wireless network Bluetooth device was installed. We developed fiber optic splice and network layout diagrams to route the data to the FDOT network hubs. The project was completed in four months.
